Many days I cling to this verse –
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” ~ Philippians 4:6-7
Some day’s anxiety can be my middle name!! I have studied scripture enough to know that anxiety is an attack on my mind intended to distract me from serving the Lord. Satan uses anxiety in my life to press my faith down, so it cannot rise up and help me live in victory. When I am anxious about my circumstances, I cannot enjoy the peace that Jesus died for me to have. I know for a fact, I cannot be anxious and have peace in the same moment.
Anxiety is straight from Satan himself. I believe Satan sends out demons to constantly wage war in our minds hoping to engage us in a long, drawn-out, tormenting combat. Then we have a ping-pong match in our heads – wondering how we will get thru the day or the next set of circumstances. When anxiety sets in your mind, don’t let Satan steal your peace. The best way to shut Satan up is to speak the Word! The Word coming from a believer’s mouth is the most effective weapon that can be used to win the war against anxiety.
A great verse to meditate on is Isaiah 41:10 ~ “So do not fear, for I am with you, do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Only God can deliver us from anxiety, and He wants us to know that so that each time you feel anxious your first response is to lean on Him.
Turn to the Word of God, put on some worship music and speak out loud to God and ask for the peace that only He can give.
