Some days my life can be so full of challenges and demands. I seek the Lord for wisdom because He knows what to do and how to best handle them. I refuse to retreat or to be overwhelmed by the weight of it all. I turn to the Lord and ask Him to hold me in His mighty right hand and give me rest-sweet peaceful rest. Even as I type this, I know God has called me to something new but I sit in a paralyzed fear of how am I going to accomplish this. The Holy Spirit reminds me, I will not accomplish this, God will accomplish this through me. I pray for clarity of mind, courage for taking my next steps and a supernatural strength to sustain me in this new endeavor. Instead of looking at my insecurities and inadequacies, I look to God who supplies all my needs in every situation. I also look at the past and remember the miracles God has allowed me to witness in my own life. God is my rock and my slavation-my stronghold! I will not be shaken. Today, I take the first steps of being obedient to God’s calling.
As you read this, you may already know down deep in your heart what God has called you to do but you have procrastinated in being obedient. You will never know the full joy of the Lord until you follow the calling the Lord has placed on your life. What I have learned, the time between when God tells you to do something and when you finally do it – that time inbetween those two moments does not belong to God, it belongs to the devil. You see, God expects immediate obedience. When He calls you, He expects you to answer. When you postpone your response, all of that time inbetween when He calls you and when you respond, gives the devil an opportunity to put his foot in the door. Satan would love to dissuade you, or delay our obedience. You and I have to take the initiative to move forward to be obedient to God’s calling for our lives. Take the first steps of being obedient to God’s calling.
