God’s Power Works Best in Weakness

I enjoy playing worship music in the kitchen for inspiration and company. I don’t usually listen intently, but my ears perked up when I heard the question posed by a honey-voiced announcer: “Who have you disappointed today?” Being a people pleaser, I made a list in my head.

I didn’t get to the grocery store, so I was out of my dog’s favorite food. My husband, Mark, needed more clean clothes. Many Amazon returns are piling up and need to go back. I just remembered that I needed to thaw out meat for dinner, and it was too late. My dog needs a bath. I didn’t get a card in the mail for my sick friend. I need to call friends to keep in touch. Feeling disappointed, I figured a better question might be, “Who didn’t I disappoint today?”

In my heart, I knew the answer: Jesus! He knows my faults and my frailties. He sees when I fall short. He understands I’m trying, but I’m imperfect.

Jesus LOVES imperfect people! His grace, His power, works best in my weakness. He doesn’t want me to beat myself up. Nothing I could ever do will disappoint Him.

Each time he said, “My grace is all you need.  My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weakness so that the power of Christ can work through me.  2 Corinthians 12:9 NLT
